Koh Samui, Thailand

Koh Samui was the first Thai island that we set our foot on. We tracked a great deal on hotels.com and booked a room in a very fancy hotel - our first of the trip! When we arrived in the port we quickly realised the only way to the hotel was by taxi and the taxi drivers seemed to know this. After an unsuccessful haggling attempt, we got in the taxi anyway, tired an hungry. Well, the great beach outside our hotel made up for it!

The room was so cosy and we felt like staying there the whole day, BUT we had to go on a hunt for a  laundromat. Since we travel with hand luggage only it was essential to wash our clothes every few days. You see Filip with a bag full of dirty clothes? That's when he realises every laundromat in the island is closed down.

We found a quiet beach near our hotel with a bar serving mojitos. This is also the first time I experience high tide. We decided it would be a great idea to put our bags in a bump of sand in the sea, while we swim around. Suddenly we lost track of time and the next thing we know our bags and shoes are swimming freely in the water.

In Thailand, ordinary streets by day are transformed into buzzing food markets at night. A feast for the senses, you can find anything you want there. We tried satay chicken and ice-cream rolls and grilled bananas and just about everything we could set our eyes on.
