Florence is food heaven for every foodie out there. I put up a little list with my all time favourite. Buon Apetito!
Food
Mercato Centrale

The best food market in Florence. Good to grab a bite or stock up on quality italian products, this is a must visit while in Florence. Two floors of incredible food - on the first floor you will find groceries and a few food stall and on the second floor is the real foodie heaven. But hang on!
There is a true hidden gem on the first floor. A place as old as the market itself, serving authentic italian deliciousness. You will find it by the long queue. Da Nerbone. Open only at lunch.
Upstairs you can try as many dishes as your food desire. Pizza with zucchini flowers? Hell yes!
Trattoria Sostanza
Whatever I say for this restaurant will not be enough. You just have to go there and taste it for yourself. Order the butter chicken. And then you will know. And yes, chicken can change your life if it's from Trattoria Sostanza. If you are a couple or by yourself you will most probably be sharing a table, which is the second best part after the chicken. Wait I forgot about the cake with wild strawberries.
Find them here and make sure to book a table ahead!
This is where the butter chicken was. The butter and the chicken are long gone.
Trattoria Gozzi
The italians are masters of homemade food. Just go here and you will know why. Open only for lunch. They have recently celebrated once century since opening. A family business, the menu changes every day with hearty italian meals. Go and compliment the chef on his food. He will love you forever.
Go early to avoid the queue.
Trattoria Mario
We were hooked by the sticker covered door. This restaurant looks like a local institution. The photos and newspaper pages on the walls tell you the story of the owners and their fate. A family run restaurant, open only for lunch and a daily changing menu. You will share long tables with strangers and get to choose from the 10 things on the menu. Get the traditional italian dessert with liquor and biscuits to dip them inside.
Trattoria Cammillo
A very fancy restaurant in the oldest part of the city. If you go, make sure to be seated in the first room with the hight ceilings. A bit overpriced, but the tiramisu is awesome!
Pannino All' Antico Vinaio
What to do while in Florence? Eat the traditional Florentinian sandwich with meat and cheese. There are specific combos on offer and if you request something weird, you will not get it. Italian food morals after all. Get your sandwich with a glass of wine and eat it on the pavement. Sweet life.
Drinks

A hip bar on the north side of the river, owned by a passionate young graphic designer that discovered the art of cocktails. Have the basil smash and you will know what I mean.
